STOA Report

Governing data and artificial intelligence for all

When: 9 March 2023, 16:00
Where: TNO - New Babylon, Room 10.014, Anna van Buerenplein 1, 2595 DA Den Haag

In this PI.Lab event, Linnet Taylor will present the report on Governing data and artificial intelligence for all: Models for sustainable and just data governance, produced by the Global Data Justice project at TILT in 2022 for the EU Parliament’s Science and Technology Options Assessment group.

The GDJ group, led by Linnet, provided policy options for orienting the EU’s legislative discussions around AI more toward social justice. Informed by work on data justice from around the world, the report explores how to operationalise data justice principles into more concrete benchmarks for good governance. It explores the EU’s current legislative package on AI in relation to these proposed benchmarks, and discuss policy options for the EU.

Dr. Linnet Taylor is Professor of International Data Governance at Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology and Society. She researches on how new sources of digital data are impacting governance, research on human and economic development, and political representation.
