13:55 – 15:15 Panel discussion: should behavioural advertising be banned?

 

  Behavioural advertising involves monitoring people’s online behaviour, and using the collected information to show people individually targeted advertisements. The past decade there has been much discussion about how the practice should be regulated. Recently, some have called for a ban on ‘surveillance advertising’. This panel explores whether behavioural advertising should be prohibited.

  Track I - Artificial intelligence and the risk of discrimination

Artificial intelligence (AI) can help our societies in many ways. But when AI is used to make decisions about people, it can also lead to unfair effects. This workshop explores what policymakers could do to protect privacy and fairness in the context of AI.

  Track II - Privacy enhancing technologies and medical research

Privacy enhancing technologies enable cross-organizational data analysis without compromising privacy, for better early detection and personalized treatments. To what extend are these technologies already adopted for medical research applications? Will the use of privacy enhancing technologies be a requirement for medical research in the near future?
